Pros from Dover

We were the Pros from Dover long before we became Drinks on the House. We never made a dime as the Pros (we've made more than twice that amount as DOTH), but we always had fun.

On February 26, 1994, we played at a party in Garland, Texas. A friend set his camcorder behind the crowd to record the event for posterity. Our performance was not flawless, but it was easily the best we'd done up to that point. And it was a lot of fun, too.

Although the camcorder's audio quality was limited, the continually running video preserved not just the songs of that evening, but also our banter with each other and our interaction with the audience. We dubbed the video to an audio cassette, made a few copies, and distributed the tapes to those who had attended the party.

Soon others asked for the tape, and we sent additional copies to friends and family who missed that show, but who had enjoyed the Pros at previous events. A month later, we created and distributed the companion booklet (below left) for the "popular cassette tape."

Procrastinators' New Years Eve Party

From tape to MP3
Fortunately, you don't have to dig up an old cassette player to hear this classic performance. Just click here or click on the booklet to the left to access the songs and banter from: The Procrastinators New Years Eve Party, February 26, 1994, with the Pros from Dover.

End of an era
The February '94 gig was the last time we performed as the Pros from Dover. Later that year at our annual Halloween party (our next big gig), we played at the same location as Drinks on the House. The rest, as they say, is history.

Booklet intro
"The Pros from Dover are a musical phenomenon, the likes of which has never been seen before! These four young lads from Liverpool have taken the world by storm with their mop top haircuts and unique sound that--oops! Sorry. That was some other group. The Pros from Dover, on the other hand, have managed to maintain a loyal following (comprised of family and friends) despite their total lack of commercial success, and it is to these forgiving fans that they are eternally grateful."
